We received a call from a prospective client to provide advice and a free no obligation quotation for any subsequent works for hedge trimming works in Southampton.

We agreed a visit date and arrived on time as agreed to discuss the hedge. We introduced ourselves to the client and made our way to the back garden to view the issues and offending hedges!  When always start off by establishing what the issues are, ie tree casting shade, tree or hedge too large etc......... once the issues are established we can then consider what works are appropriate and will provide the beneifts that the client is looking to achieve.

In this particular scenario the garden boundary is surrounded with heding on all sides and also contained a developing pine tree, growing 3 metres from the rear boundary wall of the property. Collectivley these items where casting excessive shade and created an overwhelming feeling of dominance.

We quickly established that the hedges provided a green belt along the boundary that if managed could be a pleasing asthetical addition, contributing too the garden creating an established and private secluded look and feel. However the hedges needed to be substantially reduced in size whilst ensuring the works were not so excesive that the hedges would suffer following completion of the works.

Furthermore we established that the pine tree was not suitable for a small garden of this size and had no place in the scheme of things being allowed to develop into a mature tree without causing considerable shade, there would also be the issue of proximity to the property as the tree matured.

Pine Tree

A schedule of works was agreed that was suitable and would provide the end result the client was looking for. We agreed the following works:

1 Reduce all hedges in height to main a hedge at 3 meters from ground level

2 Remove the Pine Tree to ground level

We sent the client a quotation in writing detailing the prescribed and agreed tree works. The client made contact to accept the quotation and we agreed a start date and time and duly arrived to undertake the works.

On arrival we completed the necessary paper work which included a risk assessment, now that all staff had been briefed and risk's control measures implemented in accordance with the risk assessment, work can get underway.
